Jetpack Stats Image in Admin Bar Broken

Hello,

I use the Jetpack stats feature to give me an overview of site traffic. When I’m at my dashboard the stats image is broken, but the stats still work when I click through. I read of a similar problem here

the user said it was a theme issue.

For me this started after I modified the theme code posted here

How do I remove at bottom of posts?

The broken image is annoying to look at but otherwise it is not affecting the site. Any thoughts on a cure?
